Longboarding - Longboards - Statement!!!!!!

I just have get this straight.. My whole take on skateboards, skateboarding,
skating, longboards, longboarding, etc...
It's acceptable to say, I'm going to grab my longboard an go skate..
It's unacceptable to say, I'm going to go longboarding on my longboard...
I hear too much talk on online forums (names withheld) about people
talking about longboarding vs skateboarding. It's all skateboarding..
Longboarding doesn't exist in my view.. Skateboarding does..
A longboard is just a long skateboard, ususally anthing over
about 36" is considered a longboard..
But, in my opinion a mini, say 22" or 27" long can be considered
a longboard as well, if it's designed setup to turn, and carve....
There are styles of riding that are mainly done on a longboard,
ie.. dancing, cross stepping, boardwalking etc...
But it's all skateboarding...
I think putting labels on everything and dividing things up in
categories can be a negative thing when it comes to skating..
It's all skating, and it's done using skateboards, whether they
be short or long, whether it street or downhill racing, slalom or
freeride, vert or freestyle, it's all skating.........
Division among skaters is senseless, we are skaters,
let's skate...
Longboards = OK
Longboarding = Not OK

Viva La Costa Reunion 12/05/09

Last Saturday was the Viva La Costa Reunion. An amazing
day filled with skating slalom, food, libation, and a large
handful of some of the most infuential skaters in history.
These were the people who helped to shape what skateboarding
would later become. I shot many photos, and am still processing
them, but many are now up on the web for your viewing pleasure.
Enjoy!

Tiger Williams with Special Turner Board

This is a very sort video I shot last year at Pump Station
in Poway, CA during one fo the GS races there.
Tiger Williams was kind enough to pull out this one of a
kind Turner board of his. This board has the ashes of
Legnedary skateboard maker Bob Turner embedded
in the epoxy on the bottom of the deck. Thanks to Tiger
for letting us in on another pieces of skateboarding history.

Chris Yandall Surfing Texas

A little video by Kelly Francis of Chris Yandall
during his recent pilgramge to Texas. Here he is
carving up a sweet hill on his POD with Galacized
Bennetts. This place looks almost surreal..

Check out Land Paddling Online Magazine

There is a new site out there to check out. It's a site dedicated
to Land Paddling,
or (SUPSB)Stand up paddle skateboarding..
Primarily the result of owning a Kahuna
Creations Big Stick..
This site looks like
it's off to a good start and looks like it will
grow to be an online mecca for
Big Stick user/owner...
2 big thumbs up
to Steve adams for getting this ball rolling.

Chris Yandall Sidewalk Surfing in PB

This was shot by *R of the Silverfish Channel the
other day. It's more footage of Chris Yandall on
his POD cruising the sidewalks and streets of PB
on his POD.. Some cool footage of old school style
sidewalk surfing, something that POD has deep
in it's blood... It's a natural sidewalk surfing
mini.. The Galacized Bennetts make this little
board so much fun it's unreal.

Chris Yandall in NYC on his Galac POD 22

11/11/09: Chris Yandall sent me a link to a video shot
today of him in Prospect Park, riding his POD 22.
It's a short little video 01:24 long, showing Yandall
shredding some asphalt on his tiny little Galac POD
board.. Yandall's skating continues to defy logic and
age..

Galac Land Surfing Picmember Portfolio

I'm quite fed up with photosbucket, i've been using it for years.
But the time has come to stop using it, I'm tired of how slow it
is and how much crap thye've added. So I've switched to
Picmemember. It's amazing, fast, plenty of storage, and
a great GUI. I'll still be leaving everyhing on my photobucket
album, but all new photo material will be uploaded to my
Picmember albums.

Chris Yandall ripping on his new POD

A late night shot from last evening when Yandall came by
to pick up his new Galac POD 22" with Yandall yellow
Galacized Bennett 4.3's.. This little e board is a blast and
pumps like mad.. Yandall was thoroughly enjoying his
POD ripping around the street at night, just zinging
around in front of my house.

The gtcpldp.com website has been updated with new
content, photos, examples etc... It's finally coming
together, still aloong ways to go, but now it's starting

Bennett Magical LDP Bushings Setup

The Reflex Lime 80a bushings, barrel and tall cone are
amazing. Lathing them and rounding off the corners
makes such a huge difference it's unbelievable.
This is my go-to LDP bushing setup at the moment.
This wold also be ideal for the right slalom course.

Custom GTCPLDP finally done.

I just set this up yesterday. It's got a Glacized Bennett 4.3
front, Grombiz rear, Jet black dyed Lemon/lime Bigzigs.
Bones Reds, front Race west precision spacers, inverted
rear wheels, stainless steel hardware with top washers,
bushings dialed in for him now. It will be in its owners
hands soon. This board is the pinnacle of the GTCPLDP.
I think it's going to be a magic carpet riding board.

"Galacized" Bennett 4.3's coming soon!

I'm busy working on a "Galacized" Bennett 4.3 truck..
It's going to have a custom painted baseplate and
the recessed lettering in the hanger is painted to match.
The hangers have been heavily faced, and the bushing
seats on both sides of the hanger have been sanded,
buffed, smoothed out. The entire hanger is sanded,
and buffed smooth, to a dull satin finish.
It will have a custom bushing setup with Nylon
washer on the bottom, and a Grade 8 flatwasher.
And it will have Khiro spacers.
The pivot cup is replaced with a sanded and buffed
Khiro pivot cup.. The pivot cup is then lubricated
with a special silicone grease that takes out all squeaks
and noise and make the movement within the pivot
smoother and more fluid.
There will also be a very small spacer on the kingpin
between the top and bottom bushings that is
approxiamtely 1/8" tall, it creates a union between
the two bushings, and helps create more rebound..
These trucks will be smoother and more fluid than
an off the shelf Bennett..
I plan on selling these in very limited runs. The will come
in red, yellow, grape, blue, orange, pink, green.
These are kind of like a Bennett (Deluxe)
I will photos ready by tomorrow..
No price yet, but I plan on keeping them affordable.

Surf Museum 08-28-09

Chris Yandall, Thane from Griffin Skateboards and I
went to
Oceanside on friday evening for an industry
repection at the
California Surf Museum in Oceanside..
It was a great evening.
I got to meet lot so of famous
surfers and skaters, including Jeff Ho,
Christian Fletcher,
Duane Peters, Cris Dawson, and the list goes on..

Very inspiting to be around these people,
made me want to go home
and start
building more boards at 11 at night..
I have added some photos of the evening to

Galac Land surfing Boards page redone

I have just finished redoing the baords page of my site.
No more long scrolling page, now there is a main boards page
and separate page for each board model..
http://www.galaclongboards.com/boards.html

The Sushi deck has been discontinued

The fun little board the Sushi has been discontinued,
and will be replaced with a 26" x 9 1/2" POD model.
The Sushi had its run, but the POD promises to replace
everything the Sushi was about and more..
The fishtail of the Sushi was cool looking but served
no real purpose, the squared off tail of the POD will
serve much better and help maximize wheelbase and
the ability to stand up for storage.

Galac Land Surfing New Symbol

I've been working on the graphics for a while now...
I've got the original Oval logo, the new streamlined
oval logo and the new GLS initial logo.. But I've been
thinking of a symbol for a while now.. It finally came to
me.. This is based off the atomic symbol.. It's my own
twist to an old design, based off the oval in our logo.
Presenting the new Galac Atomic Symbol...
This will be the official symbol for Galac Land Surfing.
This is gonna be a fun one to use.. I can't wait to get
this on T-Shirts and stickers..

GTCPLDP Deluxe Custom

This is a board I'm working on for my bike mechanic.
It's a GTCPLDP Deluxe and has custom paint and
graphics, featuring checkerboard logo and badge..

The POD in the flesh (or wood)

The POD has come to life now.. Already getting orders
for this little pumping goody... This one is the first one
and it's almost ready for some action. It will be set up
with Bennett 4.3/RTS 106mm, and 66mm Lime Zig Zags,
and 2 Khiro 80a Wedge pads per truck,
wedged/dewedged of course.
This thing is just begging to be ridden as I look at it now..

A few of the latest boards in progress...

Here are some the latest boards in the works right now.
Busy days at the factory managing the little elves that
make these yummy creations...

New Galac Land Surfing Oval Logo

The original oval logo has been streamlined, it's the
same logo, but I have dropped the Land Surfing
and San Diego text at the top and bottom, this will
be getting used on all boards in the future, starting
with the POD.

Thursday, August 20, 2009

New Galac Land Surfing Initial Logo

This will be secondary logo. It's the initials GLS of
Galac Land Surfing, in a flowing, inter-connected design.
The old original logo will never go away, but this will get
osed on certain boards and clothing in the near future.

GTCPLDP.COM LDP Setup page

I have been working on a setup and tips page for LDP
setups for a while now. It's still evolving, and there will
be more information and pictures added to it soon, but
it's a good start. I wrote this beacuse I get so many questions
about how to setup LDP boards, and I figured this be helpful
and make my life easier.

GTCP has become an official acronym

I was searching around google and stumbled upon this.
It seems that GTCP has become an actual acronym
in the english language. I never imagine when I came
up with this term, that it would become an acronym.
Here is the link..

Long Distance Pumping

Long Distance Pumping is the answer for those can't afford serious injury anymore. Nothing feels better than perpetual motion for miles and miles on a smooth open path. Quickly becoming the most addicting discipline for me on a board. I guess that's why I've pretty dedicated my efforts to coming up with decks that pump effortlessly. Such a great Zen experience and oh what a workout. At this point It's my goal.
